How can we help you keep coding?

Most answers are below. If you're stuck on a bug or a lesson, send us a message and a real person (Daniel) will reply.

Common questions

Getting started
How do I choose or switch programming language?

When you first open the app, pick a language from the start screen. You can switch later from the language menu, and each language keeps its own progress, so switching back won't lose anything.

I've never programmed before. Is this for me?

Yes. The lessons are written for beginners and hobbyists and teach one concept at a time. Go at whatever pace suits you and repeat lessons as often as you need.

Do I need an account or subscription?

No. There's no sign-up and no subscription. Install the app, pick a language and start.

Code editor
My code won't run or shows an error. What now?

Read the error message in the output panel first. It usually points to the line with the problem. Look for missing brackets, quotes or indentation. Syntax highlighting helps: if the colours suddenly look wrong partway through your code, the mistake is often just before that point.

If you think your code is correct and the exercise still marks it wrong, send us the lesson name and your code using the form.

Can I use the editor for my own projects?

The editor is a sandbox for learning and exercises. It's fine for small experiments, but it isn't a full development environment and can't access your files or the network.

The editor text is too small or too large.

Use the editor settings to change the font size, if available on your version. The app also respects your device's text size settings where possible.

Progress & data
Is my progress saved?

Yes. Progress and code are saved automatically on your device after every lesson and exercise, so you can close the app at any time.

Can I move my progress to a new phone?

Everything is stored locally, so there's no cloud sync. Your platform's device-to-device transfer or backup (iCloud or Google backup) may bring app data across if it's turned on. Deleting the app deletes your progress. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I reset my progress?

Use the reset option in the app's settings, where available. You can also uninstall and reinstall the app, which removes all saved data.

Offline use
Does the app really work without internet?

Yes. Lessons, exercises and running code all happen on your device, so the app works on a plane, the metro or anywhere without a signal. You only need a connection to download the app and its updates from the store.

Refunds and purchases

Purchases and refunds are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Request a refund through your store account. We can't access or issue store payments ourselves.
