Your code stays on your phone.

Sriftok Code is an offline coding course. It works without an account or an internet connection, and it doesn't send your lessons, progress or code anywhere. This policy explains that in detail.

L01

Who we are and what this covers

scope()

This Privacy Policy covers the Sriftok Code mobile app ("the app"), published by Daniel Mercer ("we", "us"). The app teaches programming through short lessons, practice exercises and a built-in code editor that runs your code on your device.

The policy applies to the app only. It doesn't cover the app store you downloaded it from or any website you open yourself.

L02

What is stored on your device

onDevice()

The app keeps a small amount of data so it can do its job. This data is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone or tablet:

  • Selected programming language(s), so the app opens where you left off.
  • Lesson progress, which lessons and exercises you've finished. The app saves this automatically.
  • Your code, meaning what you type in the built-in editor for each exercise.
  • App preferences, such as editor font size or theme, if the app offers them.

We don't receive this data and can't see it. It isn't uploaded to any server we run, because we don't run a server for the app.

L03

What we do not collect

notCollected()

Sriftok Code does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data. In particular:

  • accounts or logins
  • name or email
  • location
  • contacts or photos
  • analytics SDKs
  • advertising IDs
  • ad networks
  • cross-app tracking

The app shows no ads and has no subscription. We don't use third-party analytics, attribution or crash-reporting libraries.

L04

Running your code

runningCode()

When you tap Run, your code runs inside the app on your device. We don't send it to a remote compiler or cloud service. Exercise output, error messages and syntax highlighting are also produced on the device.

The practice environment is sandboxed for learning. Exercises aren't meant to access your files, network or other apps, and the app doesn't give your code access to personal data on the device.

L05

Device permissions

permissions()

The app doesn't need access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photo library, and it won't ask for them. It works without an internet connection. Any network access your operating system reports is limited to standard system functions, such as the app store checking for updates.

L06

App stores and your operating system

appStores()

You get the app through a platform such as the Apple App Store or Google Play. These platforms may process data about your download, purchases (if any), device and app diagnostics under their own privacy policies. We don't control that processing.

If you've opted in to share diagnostics with developers in your device settings, the platform may give us aggregated, anonymised crash or performance statistics. We only use these to fix problems in the app.

L07

When you email us

emailingUs()

If you write to us, for example from the support page, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and help you. We don't add you to mailing lists. Support email is kept only as long as needed to resolve your request and keep a reasonable record of it. After that it's deleted.

L08

Your control and your rights

yourControl()

All app data is on your device, so you're in control of it:

  • You can reset lesson progress or delete saved code with the app's in-app options, where available.
  • Uninstalling the app permanently removes everything it stored.
  • Device backups (for example iCloud or Google backups) may include app data if you've turned them on. Those are handled by your platform provider.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or CCPA give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Since we don't hold app data about you, these rights mainly apply to emails you've sent us. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.

L09

Children

children()

The app is made for beginners and hobbyists and doesn't knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included. If you think a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we'll delete it.

L10

Security

security()

Data stays in the app's sandboxed storage and is protected by your device's own security, such as a screen lock and encryption. Keep your device updated and locked to protect your progress and code.

L11

Changes to this policy

changes()

If the app changes in a way that affects privacy, such as a new optional feature that goes online, we'll update this page and the effective date before the change takes effect. We won't start collecting personal data without explaining it here first.
